Collagen Laser For Snoring in Saint Paul, MN
DEKA CO2 Laser: QuietNite Fractional Handpiece
Introducing DEKA QuieNite
DEKA QuieNite is the ultimate in soft tissue application. Providing all the great medicinal benefits of CO2 energy with the engineering prowess of DEKA, DEKA QuietNite is the quikest way to improve your quality of sleep.
An improved aid for sleep therapy
- Improves energy, mental clarity, and focus with a better night’s rest
- Reduced snoring
- Decontamination during treatment
- No need for topical anesthetic
- No post operative pain
- Quick, painless procedure in minutes
- Increased collagen stimulation to provide longer results
In under ten minutes, a quick and non-invasive procedure can be performed with DEKA QuietNite to vastly improve snoring with the least amount of downtime and discomfort.
With ideal penetration depth, DEKA c02 dental lasers are the most gentle and precise laser on soft tissue.
- Minimally invasive approach
- No bleeding
- No side effects
- No downtime
- Up to three easy treatments can be performed as needed, spaced 21 days apart during initial treatment
- Follow up treatment can be performed annually or as needed
- Priced around $500 per session
During treatment, a pattern of tiny thermal wounds is created without damaging tissue around each wound. This micro ablation allows the body to quickly heal itself and generate new collagen in as little as 30 days. New collagen tightens and tones the soft palate and oropharyngeal arear to improve snoring.
- Minimally invasive approach
- Immediate results for the patient in as little as five days after treatment
- After 30 days, sleep studies showed AHI decreased and RDI decreased by 25% after a single treatment
- Pharygometer readings showing increase in airway volume after a single treatment
These results are based on DEKA QuietNite internal study results only. Patients did not use a CPAP machine or an oral sleep alliance during the study.
Tissue Healing with Fractional CO2
The epithelial cells of the mucosa respond immediately and begin proliferating to cover the site and give initial tightening. The denatured collagen in the lamina propria layer stimulates and activates the elastin fibers. Collagen remodeling continues to occur for as long as 9-12 months after laser resurfacing.
- Deeper penetration into tissue means better collagen stimulation.
- Superficial fractional ablation leads to more immediate relief.
- Results can be measured with CBCT, Sleep Studies, Pharyngometer mapping and snore apps.
Powered by UltraSpeed
DEKA’s proprietary UltraSpeed pulse combines power and gentleness for quick ablation with no charring – just a small band of coagulation that seals blood vessels, nerve endings and lymphatics.19>/sup>
With a peak power of 150W, the DEKA smart CO2 has a very quick and precise ablation of soft tissue. The UltraSpeed pulse creates a tail of energy after the short but intense peak pulse, designed with enough thermal relaxation time, to allow the surrounding tissue to dissipate the heat and go back to rest before the next pulse.
For Example, at 100 hertz (100 pulse second) and Level 10 (10% duty cycle) the laser is only on (t-on) for 10% of each of the 100 pulses and off (t-off) for 90% of each of the 100 pulses. The time off provides the thermal relaxation time needed by the irradiated tissue to lose 50% of the delivered energy (heat), without any heat conduction to the surrounding tissues.
Designed for Precision
The proprietary design of the DEKA CO2 laser’s hand blown glass tube generates a pure TEM00 beam with a Gaussian distribution that directs the energy to a fine point for precise cutting – allowing for a wide range of treatments. The DEKA Smart CO2 laser ranges from a small spot size of 150 microns for a deep and narrow incision, to a 300 micron spot size with a large depth of field or the gentale dehydration of tissue. This versatile handpiece allows for the broadest range of application.
For any laser to be therapeutic it must be well absorbed by the target tissue. Since oral soft tissue is 90-95% water, c02 (10,600nm) is the preferred wavelength for soft tissue procedures because of its superior co-efficient characteristics into water and excellent homeostasis properties. c02 ablates tissue very efficiently and virtually no energy penetrates beyond 0.1mm17 while ND:YAG (1,064nm), with Melanin as its main chromophore, has a penetration depth of 3-4mm.
The Erbium laser (2,940nm) has the highest co-efficient of absorption in water of any of the lasers used in dentistry, however there is so much absorption that there is no residual heat energy for coagulation in soft tissue. c02 has a 98% absorption rate in soft tissue and the remaining 2% provides the lateral thermal spread that seals blood vessels, seals nerve endings and seals lymphatics.
Like ND:YAGs, diode lasers’ (810-980nm) main chomophore is melanin17. Diode lasers generally are “initiated” to be effective in soft tissue18. This is done by touching the fiber optic tip to a dark material like articulating paper and essentially blocks the laser energy from escaping, causing the tip of the fiber to heat up. The resulting effect on tissue is only conductive heat or photothermal reaction.18
What Our Patients Are Saying
After working with Dr. Malterud for a couple of weeks to get the right fit for my NTI, the results are great. I may still get a headache but only for a few hours and not severe.
— Judy Wiedl
It's hard to believe that something so small could change my life in such a big way. I have been pain free without drugs or surgery for years now. My teeth have been saved from more damage because I don't grind them any more.
— Therese L
Mark is the absolute best. I recommend him and his team to everyone. No matter where I live in the world, our family will always use his services. Worth traveling the world over for. Thanks Mark!
