Highland Park Dental Care Dentist Explains Benefits of Invisalign™

A beautiful smile is one of the first things people notice about you. If you have crooked or uneven teeth, you know that it is embarrassing and worse yet, it keeps the real you from shining through when you’re too self-conscious to even smile. But you don’t have to go through the process of wearing traditional braces to get back that beautiful smile. Let’s look at some of the advantages of using the Invisalign™ system.

What are the advantages of using Invisalign™ aligners?

  • Easy Treatment Plan:  We start with X-rays that are used to create a 3-d digital image of your mouth.  Based on this image, a set of custom-made aligners will be produced for you to take home and change about every two weeks. We’ll schedule checkups every six weeks or so at our Minneapolis Dental Office so we can monitor your progress.
  • Convenient: Wear your aligners throughout the day, removing them for meals. Unlike traditional braces you won’t be restricted as to the foods you can eat while wearing Invisalign™.
  • Easily removable: Continue to brush and floss your teeth as you normally would. Your aligners can simply be brushed and rinsed in lukewarm water.
  • Adaptable to your active lifestyle: Since Invisalign™ aligners are nearly invisible; most people won’t notice you’re wearing them. If you’re involved in contact sports, you don’t have to worry about the discomfort of metal braces and wires that can poke and irritate your mouth. The comfortable BPA-free plastic won’t cause any irritation. Invisalign™ aligners are easily removed, enabling you to wear a protective mouth guard if necessary.

How long does the entire process take?

Each person’s needs are unique. Contact Highland Park Saint Paul Dental Care for a free consultation to evaluate your individual situation. Generally speaking, Invisalign™ treatment usually takes about a year for adults. For teens, the length of treatment is comparable to that of traditional braces, but every time you change aligners you’ll see the beautiful progress right there in your mirror!
